4. How we use information
We use information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide core features (challenges, check-ins, proof, streaks, friends, feeds, invites)
- Show relevant content to other users according to your privacy and visibility settings (for example, members of a challenge may see your check-ins/proof based on challenge and proof-audience settings)
- Send transactional and product notifications (reminders, invites, friend requests, check-in activity) when enabled
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms
- Improve the Service and customer support
- Comply with law
We do not sell your personal information.
5. How sharing and visibility work in ShowUp
ShowUp is social by design. Depending on settings you or a challenge creator choose:
- Challenge members may see your profile info, membership, and check-in activity
- Photo/note proof may be visible to challenge members and, where enabled, to a wider audience (such as followers or public viewers)
- Public or discoverable challenges and related activity may be visible to other users
- Invite links may allow others to view or join a challenge according to the invite settings
Please only share content you are comfortable making visible under those settings.
6. Service providers / processors
We use trusted providers to operate ShowUp, including:
- Supabase (authentication, database, file storage)
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store distribution)
- Expo / push notification infrastructure (for push delivery)
- Hosting/CDN providers for our website and invite pages
These providers process data only to provide services to us and under contractual/security obligations.
7. Contacts
If you grant contacts permission, ShowUp can read contacts on your device so you can pick people to invite. We use selected contact details to help you send an invite (for example via your device's messaging apps). We do not sell contact lists. We recommend inviting only people who expect to hear from you.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website/invite pages may use essential cookies or similar technologies needed for security and basic functionality. If we use non-essential analytics cookies, we will disclose that and obtain consent where required.
9. Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business, security, and legal purposes.
- Account and profile data: until you delete your account
- Challenge, check-in, and proof content: generally while your account exists and as needed for challenges you participate in; content may remain visible to others until deleted or until related challenges are removed according to product rules
- Push tokens: while notifications are enabled / account is active
- Support messages: as needed to resolve your request
After account deletion, we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain information for legal, security, or dispute-resolution reasons.
10. Account deletion
You can delete your account in the ShowUp app (Profile → delete account). Deletion permanently removes your account and associated personal data such as your profile, challenges you created (subject to product rules), check-ins, and friendships, except for limited records we may need to retain by law or for security.
You may also request deletion by emailing showup.app@outlook.com from the email associated with your account.

Depending on where you live (including the EEA/UK and similar jurisdictions), you may have rights to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise rights, contact showup.app@outlook.com. We may need to verify your identity.
12. Children's privacy
ShowUp is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
If you are under the age of digital consent in your country, you may use ShowUp only with parent/guardian permission where required.
13. International transfers
We may process and store information on servers located outside your country (including where our providers operate). Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers. ShowUp is operated with reference to applicable law in Slovenia and the EU, as well as the laws of your jurisdiction where they apply.
14. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal data (including access controls and encrypted transport). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
15. Third-party links and services
ShowUp may link to third-party services (for example App Store pages). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
